The latest available version is Overpass API v0.7.52. The source has 
just been released, a release documentation has not been written yet:

It supports in addition to the previous version to keep the database 
compressed. This can be both an advantage or a disadvantage, depending 
on the particular setting. It is an advantage if you are short of disk 
space (because you are using an SSD), and it is a dsiadvantage if your 
CPU gets to its limits. In the long turn, a better internal caching 
should allow to get

In addition, it fixes a lot of (but unfortunately not all) bugs that 
have been found in the meantime.

Versions 0.7.51 and 0.7.52 accept regular expressions on keys as well as 
on values.

All versions since at least 0.7.1 allow to query by regular expressions 
on values. I strongly discourage using any older versions, because they 
don't handle 64-Bit-Ids on nodes.
