Hi Malcolm,

this apparently may take some time. I have now found a machine that has 
not autotools-1.14 installed. This means that I can reproduce the problem.

Nonetheless, it looks like the known solutions from earlier versions 
haven't worked yet. I'll continute to try and write a message when I 
understand what exactly goes wrong.
