Hi Roland
Thank you for the help. Symlinked the templates directory into the
database directory and all works well.
Just as a side remark: we haven't used it up until now. But lots of
discussions/desire for permanent ids in the last year have now initiated
some experimentation with that service. It is a quick way shows how to
work with OSM data where no permanent ids are maintained by mappers.
Interesting mention about the rules directory. That one is for the area
service, right? I didn't have that in the database directory, but area
worked just fine.
About documentation: probably the install page on the wiki
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Overpass_API/Installation#Populating_the_DB
could use a mention. At least that's the page I usually find when
searching for overpass installation
